Every Friday, at The Soundx we will pick some new releases, based on quality or importance, which ones you should listen to throughout the week. This week we have releases from MARINA, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Pi’erre Bourne, Bo Burnham, Garbage, and Maroon 5.
MARINA – Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land
Welsh singer and songwriter MARINA’s highly anticipated album, Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land, arrives via Atlantic Records with ten new tracks. It’s her fifth full-length record and has been provoked since January 2020. Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land features production by Jennifer Decilveo and James Flannigan and the single “Man’s World.”
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard – Butterfly 3000
Butterfly 3000 it’s King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard’s fifth record within two years. It follows March’s L.W. and 2020’s K.G.. The album features no singles and was defined by the band as “Melodic + psychedelic” and “Cross-eyed autostereogram.” Butterfly 3000 is released through KGLW.
Pi’erre Bourne – The Life Of Pi’erre 5
The Life of Pi’erre 5 is the second studio album by American record producer and rapper Pi’erre Bourne. It’s the follower up to his 2019’s debut album, The Life of Pi’erre 4, and has guest appearances by Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, and Sharc.
Bo Burnham – Inside (The Songs)
Bo Burnham’s Inside (The Songs) is the compilation of songs from his hit show on Netflix, Inside. It is 53 minutes long and also features spoken word tracks that give context to each song. Bo Burnham was discovered on Youtube and recently directed a feature film, Eighth Grade, and appeared in the Oscar-nominated film, Promising Young Woman.
Garbage – No Gods No Masters
No Gods No Masters is the seventh studio album by American rock band Garbage. Lead singer Shirley Manson described the project as “a critique of the rise of capitalist short-sightedness, racism, sexism and misogyny across the world.” The album arrives via Stunvolume and Infectious Music.
Maroon 5 – JORDI
Maroon 5’s seventh record, JORDI, is released via Interscope e Polydor Records. It’s the first album after the bassist Mickey Madden left the band in 2020. The record features Megan Thee Stallion, Stevie Nicks, and H.E.R..
